Academic AI is an innovative product designed to create a platform that assists people in the academic field with daily tasks. It aims to become the best assistant for researchers by offering comprehensive support. Our goal is to help researchers maximize their potential and achieve their academic objectives. This project is a collaborative startup with three PhD scholars from Peking University.
Objectives
Interview at least 5 PhD students and professors to identify user journey in their research process.
Analyze 3-5 AI-powered academic tools to define our unique value proposition.
Build two AI-powered features that most address research challenges.
Conduct usability testing to measure task success rate and assess business value.

We conducted 5 interviews with 2 philosophy professors and 3 economics students, and synthesized their insights into a user journey map outlining their research process.
Pain Points
Market Analysis
We analyzed market share using SOM, SAM, and TAM models to estimate the future market potential for academic AI. Additionally, we conducted a competitive analysis of four existing products to identify industry trends, gaps, and opportunities, which guided our product development strategy.

Develop an AI-powered academic search engine indexing top research platforms like CNKI, IEEE, and other major databases.
Enhance search precision using prompt-tuning, delivering more relevant, high-impact papers.
Build an AI-driven personal research knowledge base for efficient storage, retrieval, and management of research materials.
Implement an intelligent Q&A system to provide context-aware, domain-specific insights based on the knowledge base.
